A childhood cancer diagnosis shatters daily life. Parents are plunged into a whirlwind of medical appointments, hospital stays, and impossible choices between caregiving and employment. Children endure grueling treatments that take a toll on their young bodies and fragile spirits. Siblings feel confused, neglected, and afraid. And all the while, financial pressures mount — gas for repeated trips to distant hospitals, groceries, rent, co-pays, and lost income from missed work.
This is the side of childhood cancer that doesn’t make headlines — but it demands our attention.
Because there are no childhood cancer treatment facilities in the North Bay, families who have children with cancer must travel long distances for care.
NBCA’s focus
At North Bay Cancer Alliance (NBCA), we focus on these overlooked realities. As a trusted healthcare partner in the North Bay, we provide immediate, no-application, no-wait assistance to families facing pediatric cancer. Whether it’s a gas card to get to the next chemotherapy appointment, grocery support during a parent’s unpaid leave, or help with medical bills — we are here to lift the burdens so families can focus on healing.
Because there are no childhood cancer treatment facilities in the North Bay, families who have children with cancer must travel long distances for care.
This adds a significant burden for families already struggling to care for a child with cancer, while balancing, the financial, emotional and professional impacts of treatment.

NBCA Calls on Local Businesses to “Step Up” for Children with Cancer this September
In recognition of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, NBCA is inviting local businesses, individuals, and foundations to join a community effort to support North Bay families facing pediatric cancer — one dollar at a time.
Throughout September, participating businesses will give customers the option to “Add $1 or $2 for Kids with Cancer” at checkout. All donations will stay local and provide immediate relief to families struggling with the everyday costs of childhood cancer. At the end of each month or quarter, your company tallies the donations and sends a check to NBCA. That’s it. A simple ask that makes a real impact.
This program is completely free for your business and an easy way to show your commitment to the community, engage with your customers, and, most importantly, help childhood cancer patients.
