"Thank you for having this program. I thought I might be
at increased risk, but I
did not know there was
anything I could do about it.
"

- Sylvia S. -
Program Participant

The Alliance will take an active role in providing information and resources related to the prevention and early detection of cancer. Such prevention programs will be designed to help adults and children choose and maintain healthy lifestyles throughout their lives. With the active engagement of local physicians, nurses, health educators, other health professionals, the Alliance will target at-risk populations. The Alliance will also seek to create partnerships with community-based groups in order to connect with hard-to-reach individuals (elderly persons, non-English speakers, low-income adults).

In addition, the Alliance will collaborate with health plans, hospitals, medical groups, and other healthcare providers in the region to augment professional education for medical practitioners. These educational sessions will be offered in multiple settings throughout the region. Patient and family education programs will be developed and provided by licensed nurses in oncology with support from other healthcare professionals including nutritionists, radiological technologists, and health educators. In addition, physicians will support the development of a health practitioner curriculum as well as educational sessions for other physicians. Seminars and conferences will be available to any healthcare professional interested in the areas of oncology and cancer prevention, but they will be targeted for professionals in Northern California.

Public Charitable Purpose

  • In order to enhance the community’s level of knowledge concerning health issues, the foundation will sponsor educational programs for members of the public at large in matters of general health, disease prevention, and treatment of diseases including, but not limited to, cancer.

  • In order to insure local access by the community’s physicians to continuing medical education, the Alliance will sponsor seminars and conferences designed to educate medical practitioners and other interested persons in the art and science of medicine including, but not limited to, oncology.
