Significant bodies of research demonstrate the importance of early detection in the successful treatment of cancer. Even though early detection procedures are widely available to Americans with health insurance coverage, the uninsured and the under-insured population has limited access to such services. The Alliance will assess the needs of the at-risk population and develop plans to provide diagnostic and early detection programs either directly or through other community-based organizations where services can be extended without regard to individuals’ ability to pay. For those patients who have already been diagnosed with cancer and require treatment, the organization will help provide financial assistance to support some or all of their care. Public Charitable Purpose In order to improve access to needed health services by all members of the community, the Alliance will assess the range of healthcare services provided in the community and develop, design, and provide specific healthcare services for the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, including but not limited to cancer. Such services will be aimed primarily at the uninsured and/or underinsured population in the Greater North Bay Region. |
